I recently had some time open up unexpectedly in my schedule and in honor of the quickly approaching Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to try something a little different. In the wake of the natural distress and disaster that our area has faced in recent months, I am reminded again of how very lucky we are to live in a time and a place where we can generally take simple things like clean drinking water as a matter of course. I know it’s not the same everywhere, but it could be. With that in mind, I have decided to offer a limited number of last-minute special holiday mini-sessions this coming Saturday, November 19.

A donation will be made to Charity: Water for every session booked, which I am so very excited about. Charity: Water is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. I also love that 100% of public donations given to the Charity: Water organization go directly toward funding water projects (overhead and salary monies come from private donors and foundations). For more information, please visit http://www.charitywater.org/.

Sessions will last 20 minutes (one outfit, one backdrop), will take place in my Clifton Park studio, and will result in 5-10 final images. All ordering will be done in person at the studio on Saturday, December 3rd. I have prepared 3 exclusive collections for these sessions, each with a digital and a print option to best suit my clients’ holiday needs. Collection prices include the session fee for the session. Add-on products will also be available for purchase at special holiday pricing. A $350 deposit is required upon booking to reserve your session.

I will need to have at least 4 spots booked by this Wednesday, November 16th to be able to offer these special sessions, and there will be a maximum of 8 spots available, so if you are interested please contact me as soon as possible:).  You can find more specific details below along with some sample holiday cards.

I hope to see some of you this coming Saturday, but if I don’t, have a fantastic holiday season!

Well, here we are, at the end of the true newborn images.  I love my babies and I love my job, so to be able to do my job with my own baby girl has been so blissfully wonderful.  Hard, exhausting, and a lot of work, but such a gift.

What an amazing 3 weeks!

Just a short post to announce the arrival of the newest Washburn baby, Evangeline. The name Evangeline means “bearer of good news,” and despite the nausea and the heartburn and the exhaustion and the body aches, Eva has always been good news. She had the most amazing birthday today at 2:44 in the morning and I just can’t wait to get to know her better and better every day.

Many more images and birth information to come, but for now she just wants to say “hi.”

Eva, you are the best news ever.

Love,

Mom

So, here we are at 37+ weeks and I finally had the chance to take some pictures of my belly with my family.  That was the last thing on the “must do” list before Lemonhead’s arrival, so we are good to go any time:).  I want to express my thanks to my wonderful family who are always so kind and patient with me and my crazy ideas.  My darling husband shot most of these shots (lots of bringing me the camera so I could check things out and adjust the light, pose, composition, etc.) and my wonderful mother shot the rest.  It’s always hard as a photographer to be on the other side of the lens, I think.  But I know, I KNOW how grateful I will continue to be that we spent the time to find clothes and to take these images.  As a young mother of just one or two kids, everything felt so epic that I never thought I would forget any of the motherhood stuff.  Now, as a perpetually sleep-deprived not-as-young mother of almost 5, I realize that my memory is unreliable at best.  What a blessing to live in a day when photographs are so readily available.  I am so grateful for what I am able to do to capture the milestones in my own life and in the lives of my beautiful clients.  I am a lucky, lucky girl:).

To my sweet baby-girl-to-be, we are ready and we cannot wait to meet you! You are already more loved than you can possibly know.

Anyone wanna guess when she’ll be here?

Oh heavens, what can I say about 6-day old baby Alden?  Only that he makes it look so easy.  Despite the 2.5 hour drive from Vermont, Alden was so sweet-tempered, easy-going, and SLEEPY.  What a way to finish out my sessions before my own baby girl arrives (I have a feeling she will not be quite so accommodating).  I loved every minute of Alden’s sessions from chatting with his mom and dad to his frequent smiles to that darling blonde hair–every moment was just delightful.  And then I couldn’t move afterward.  Apparently 4 hours of squatting when you are a million months pregnant can be hard on the body once the adrenaline of shooting wears off.  So, while I hate to slow down, I think maybe it’s time;).  And without further ado…

Look at that gorgeous, gorgeous family–you can see where he gets his looks:).

He even indulged mom and I by letting us play outside for a bit.

Alden, you are quite truly a gift.  Katie and Aaron, thank you so much for sharing him with me–it was an honor.
