One of my very, very favorite things is having clients come back again, renewing those friendships, and seeing how those families are growing and changing.  This week I had the opportunity to photograph the sweetest baby girl (little sister to this little beauty), a gorgeous mama to be (you may have seen her here), and, of course, my own darling girl.  It was a girlie, lavender-pink kind of week:).

Just by way of announcement, I will be out of the office until Monday, January 23rd.  When I get back, lots more lovely images of these lovely people:).

I recently had some time open up unexpectedly in my schedule and in honor of the quickly approaching Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to try something a little different. In the wake of the natural distress and disaster that our area has faced in recent months, I am reminded again of how very lucky we are to live in a time and a place where we can generally take simple things like clean drinking water as a matter of course. I know it’s not the same everywhere, but it could be. With that in mind, I have decided to offer a limited number of last-minute special holiday mini-sessions this coming Saturday, November 19.

A donation will be made to Charity: Water for every session booked, which I am so very excited about. Charity: Water is a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing clean and safe drinking water to people in developing nations. I also love that 100% of public donations given to the Charity: Water organization go directly toward funding water projects (overhead and salary monies come from private donors and foundations). For more information, please visit http://www.charitywater.org/.

Sessions will last 20 minutes (one outfit, one backdrop), will take place in my Clifton Park studio, and will result in 5-10 final images. All ordering will be done in person at the studio on Saturday, December 3rd. I have prepared 3 exclusive collections for these sessions, each with a digital and a print option to best suit my clients’ holiday needs. Collection prices include the session fee for the session. Add-on products will also be available for purchase at special holiday pricing. A $350 deposit is required upon booking to reserve your session.

I will need to have at least 4 spots booked by this Wednesday, November 16th to be able to offer these special sessions, and there will be a maximum of 8 spots available, so if you are interested please contact me as soon as possible:).  You can find more specific details below along with some sample holiday cards.

I hope to see some of you this coming Saturday, but if I don’t, have a fantastic holiday season!

Just a short post to announce the arrival of the newest Washburn baby, Evangeline. The name Evangeline means “bearer of good news,” and despite the nausea and the heartburn and the exhaustion and the body aches, Eva has always been good news. She had the most amazing birthday today at 2:44 in the morning and I just can’t wait to get to know her better and better every day.

Many more images and birth information to come, but for now she just wants to say “hi.”

Eva, you are the best news ever.

Finally.  And looking forward to not traveling and just nesting from here on out:).  Although, I did have the most wonderful month meeting new friends, reconnecting with old friends, seeing my family, and traveling the world.  I just wanted to share a little bit of what I was up to over the month of July.

First, I had the wonderful opportunity to attend a workshop with 19 other fabulous photographers in the Bay Area of California (there we are!).

Goodies

As a part of that workshop, we photographed some absolutely beautiful families at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.  It was truly a gorgeous place to shoot.

I tend to forget I am pregnant while shooting–even at 32 weeks:).

After less than 17 hours after returning to Seattle from San Francisco, I headed out with the Pinhole Press team to Kinsale, Ireland.  If you haven’t checked out Pinhole Press, you need to.  They offer the most beautiful, well-made products that you can make with your digital images.  Kinsale was amazing, our hosts from Pinhole Press were amazing, and the other photographers on their team are simply amazing as well.

Some shots from around the town of Kinsale, including our tour guide Barry, who you couldn’t help but just love.

Images from our walk to and visit at Charles Fort in Kinsale (plus my darling roommate Li Ward of Fat Orange Cat Studio):

Ireland2

Blarney Castle, where you can kiss the Blarney Stone to gain the gift of gab (which I didn’t attempt to do in my pregnant state–although, I think my family, friends, and clients will agree that I already have that gift in spades;) ):

Ireland3

We ended the trip with dinner at Old Head, a breathtakingly beautiful golf course on the coast of Ireland (recently rated the #1 most spectacular golf course in the world by Links magazine):

As much fun as I had, I am glad to be home, glad to be done with sessions for a while(I have two more blog posts to come), and glad to be able to (hopefully) catch my breath before my own sweet baby girl makes her arrival.  I can’t wait!

Finally, a big thank you to our workshop sponsers:

Crickets… that’s what you will be hearing from my blog over the next couple of weeks as I (finally) have a chance to go home to Washington to visit my family for pretty much the first time since we moved here over three years ago.  While away, I will also be visiting with some colleagues in both the Bay area of California and the south-eastern part of Ireland, and I can’t wait.  When I return, I have just a handful of things to finish up (including a newborn session to shoot!) before beginning my maternity leave in preparation for the arrival of my own 5th baby (lovingly known as “Lemonhead”).  So, if things are a little dead around here, that would be why:).

To clients who have already placed orders: your products should be on their way to your homes, with the exception of coffee table books which will arrive at the studio while I am away.  I will contact you when the studio reopens at the end of July to arrange the pick-up of your books–I can’t WAIT to see them all!

To clients waiting on galleries: I will try to have those up just as soon as I can after my return, either late July or early August.

To prospective clients hoping to schedule a maternity or newborn session (a session that cannot be postponed): If you are due from late September to early November, feel free to contact me.  We can discuss the possibility of holding a session, however, I will not be solidly booking newborn and maternity sessions until November.  Also, if you are looking for a referral for a photographer you can trust with your newborn portraits and the timing doesn’t work out for us, I would be happy to give you the names of my talented colleagues:).

To prospective clients hoping to book something other than a maternity or a newborn session: I will be booking baby sessions again in January of 2012 and outdoor family and child sessions beginning in mid-late April of 2012.

That’s about it for now.  Hopefully, my pregnancy self survives flying multiple thousands of miles in the third trimester, part of the time with my four kids and no husband, and returns energized and ready to close everything out before Lemonhead arrives.  Once she does, I have no doubt I will more than make up for my lack of posting.  Proud mama and all that:).

Have a lovely, lovely summer!
